Minjeni is a registered NGO since 2005. Romana Olomi, a social worker and nurse brought together a group of women from her home village. They tried to map out the problems of the mountain villages Shimbwe and Ura East, both on the slopes of Mount Kilamanjaro in Tanzania and they were looking for solutions to alleviate poverty and te increase opportunities for villagers.
They came to pigs,- chickens,- goats,- and gardenprojects where they work with a micro- credit formula. In 2010 they started a sewing project within Minjeni, since then a group, recently expanded from 4 to 14 work with great succes and financial independance on beautifull products.
Products are sold at local markets, and in a number of places in the Netherlands, and now also available in our webshop. From the earnings they generate money for their families and for Minjeni, so that they can finance the above projects.
A Day Care Centre is under construction, it is a wonderfull project to support.
